The purpose of this article is to find latin influences on Jan Kochanowski's Foricoenia 42 and 52. In the past, scholars focused their efforts especially on greek influences on Foricoenia. The importance of these influences is beyond doubt, nethertheless this article discusses the presensce of latin authors as Lucretius and especially Horace in the two texts. In this case, allusions to these two ancient authors helps to interpretate the epigrams better than the connections with the greek tradition (Aesop).
