Several Spanish Golden Age authors adapted novella X, 1 of Decameron to the context of very heterogeneous works, characterized by the prevalence of humorous elements, or by reflection on the fortune. My aim is to analyze and arrange these texts, from Torquemada’s «Colloquio del juego» and Tamara’s translation of an anecdote written by Johann Carion until Timoneda, Sebastián de Orozco, Santa Cruz, Medrano, López Pinciano, Mondragón, Lope de Vega and a little story attributed to Arguijo. With a consideration of the traditional elements in Boccaccio’s masterpiece, I highlight the conceptual variations derivating from the combinatorial possibility of narrative units, permeable to the different objectives of the Spanish writers.

Abstract
