Abstract

In vitro culture tecniques could represent a new tool to investigate stress resistance related physiologic mechanism and, consequently, to set up precocious tests. The different attitude to react to iron deficiency conditions within Vitis spp has been tested on several Vitis spp: Vitis riparia,V. berlandieri and V. vinifera in vitro systems like proliferating and rooted shoots and calli culture. Stressed (-Fe) and not stressed (+Fe)have been established and variation in medium pH and FeIII reduction ability have been determined. With reference to the glasshouse screening of woody cuttings, previously assessed and elsewhere reported, the reliability of the mentioned in vitro system is going to be determined
