Plasma lipid levels were tested in a group of a alcoholic patients admitted to an alcoholic ward. Triglycerides were significantly increased in comparison with a control population, most markedly in chronic alcoholics. Typing of hyperlipoproteinemia showed a high incidence of type IV disease. There appeared to be no correlation between triglyceride and free fatty acid elevation.
