To find the optimal granularity of the electromagnetic section of a hadronic calorimeter, with W or U absorbers, lateral shower extension is defined. A test was performed in the t9 beam at the CERN-PS (p synchrotron) with incoming e energies of 2, 4, and 6 GeV. For the investigated radial region, the structural of the lateral shower development has 2 components.
