A description of huntingtons disease and the gene which is responsible for it is presented. Huntingtons disease, which cripples and causes dementia is a genetic disease that results from a mutation in a gene called huntingtin found on chromosome 4. Mutant hutingtin appears to be toxic to key nerve cells in the brain and lacks the ability to turn on a necessary growth factor gene.
