The reaction of the complexes Pt(PPh3)2(OOH)X (HX=succinimide (I), phthalimide (II), PhOH (III), ρ{variant}-MeC6H4OH (IV)) and Pt(PPh3)2(OH)X (HX= succinimide (V), phthalimide (VI)) with CO and CO2 have been studied. In order to clarify some reaction pathways, the reactivity of Pt[O2C(O)O](PPh3)2 (VII) and of Pt[O2CMe2O](PPh3)2 (VIII) with succinimide and phthalimide has also been investigated. 17O NMR and IR spectra of some of these compounds and of Pt[OC(O)O](PPh3)2 (IX) have been recorded.
