Narrow edentulous ridges may compromise the possibility of placing dental implants in the correct position from an aesthetic and functional point of view.Different techniques to overcome this problem have been proposed over the years, such as autogenous bone grafting, guided bone regeneration with semipermeable barriers and sagittal osteotomies of the narrow ridges. This last group of techniques may present some advantages no need of bone harvesting, reduction of post-operative morbidity, shortening of rehabilitation times. Abstract

Nevertheless, some disadvantages have been encountered such as risk of buccal plate fracture or incomplete expansion. The aim of this presentation is to present new instruments to simplify expansion of narrow ridges without the need of bone grafting procedures.Details on technical aspects as well as clinical results will be presented and discussed
