A young goldfinch submitted for necropsy was found to have pale yellow enlarged liver diffusely spotted by petechial haemorrhages. Histologically, hepatitis associated with the presence of karyomegalic cells was the main finding observed. Electron microscopy revealed the presence of papovavirus-like particles in the karyomegalic nuclei. Moreover, numerous atoxoplasma were observed by electron microscopy in the cytoplasm of mononuclear cells infiltrating the liver.

Abstract
A young goldfinch submitted for necropsy was found to have pale yellow enlarged liver diffusely spotted by petechial haemorrhages. Histologically, hepatitis associated with the presence of karyomegalic cells was the main finding observed. Electron microscopy revealed the presence of papovavirus-like particles in the karyomegalic nuclei. Moreover, numerous atoxoplasma were observed by electron microscopy in the cytoplasm of mononuclear cells infiltrating the liver.Pubblicazioni consigliate
