In patients in whom extremity fractures form part of a multiple injury pcture it is often necessary for fractures to be stabilised as early as possible for better management of the overall situation and to avoid further complications connected with forced decubitus. AS both conservative treatment and osteosynthesis with a plate for a variety of reasons do not meet the needs of humeral fracture treatment in these patients, the use of external fixation is proposed in fractures of proximal humeral epiphisis and in plurifragmentary fractures of the disphysis, and of Rush's nail in certian fractures of the surgical neck and humeral disphysis. This treatment permits speedy patient mobilisation and good healing of humeral fractures. WE present 38 cases treated with this method, and good result are showed.
