The archaeological site of Salut is located about 2 km north of the modern town of Bisyah and was a key city of Northern Oman during the Protohistorical and Medieval periods. The site is at present being excavated by the Italian Mission in Oman directed by A. Avanzini. In the frame of these researches we were asked to perform a reconnaissance geoarchaeologic survey to evaluate the potentiality of the area for the geoarchaeologic research in the perspective of the reconstruction of the palaeoclimatic changes and of the mutual relationship between human cultures and environment during the late Holocene.

Abstract
