The focus of this article is on the scene in the Revelation of John (Apoc. 10,8-9)where an angel offers the seer a book to eat,i.e. the commission to prophecy. This biblion is certainly a book-roll, which was the usual form of the book in the Ist and the IInd cent. A.D. for the Christians too. Parallels of the book manducatio can hardly be drawn from the ancient greek literature and from the graeco-magical papyri. All these references are found here.

Abstract
The focus of this article is on the scene in the Revelation of John (Apoc. 10,8-9)where an angel offers the seer a book to eat,i.e. the commission to prophecy. This biblion is certainly a book-roll, which was the usual form of the book in the Ist and the IInd cent. A.D. for the Christians too. Parallels of the book manducatio can hardly be drawn from the ancient greek literature and from the graeco-magical papyri. All these references are found here.Pubblicazioni consigliate
