This seminar concerns the semantics of Japanese verbs, and how it determines particle assignment and the expression of surface cases. During the seminar a number of linguistic notions are used, such as semantic role, case, grammatical relation and argument realization. These notions are explained and discussed in detail so that the seminar can be attended by students that are yet not familiar with them. Also, during the seminar the relation of verbs, cases and semantic roles are explained by means graphs and tables. In addition to providing a deep insight into the construction of Japanese verbs, thi seminar is also interesting for advanced students, since it proposes a new, original method of explaining verb semantics and syntax.

Abstract
This seminar concerns the semantics of Japanese verbs, and how it determines particle assignment and the expression of surface cases. During the seminar a number of linguistic notions are used, such as semantic role, case, grammatical relation and argument realization. These notions are explained and discussed in detail so that the seminar can be attended by students that are yet not familiar with them. Also, during the seminar the relation of verbs, cases and semantic roles are explained by means graphs and tables. In addition to providing a deep insight into the construction of Japanese verbs, thi seminar is also interesting for advanced students, since it proposes a new, original method of explaining verb semantics and syntax.Pubblicazioni consigliate
