Objectives 1-mapping the epidemiology of termination of pregnancy (TOP) after 16 weeks of gestational age 2-exploring how the midwives perceive the burden of caregiving and the emotional one, while performing TOP. Methods recorded interviews between 11-02-2011 and 01-03-2011. 10 midwives of two ward, have partecipated. The interviews were later transcribed and analyzed. Results 8 midwives reported some difficulties in the caregiving during TOP, 2 feel at ease. The main difficulties are provide a psicological support to women and face the emotional distress. The midwives stressed the importance of the equipe and the colleagues. Conclusions to lower the midwives’ difficulties it would be useful introduce the possibility of a psycological support for them and improve the updating.
