This paper argues in favour of an approach to Discourse Analysis that helps overcome the partial inattention towards linguistic analysis proper which has characterised certain areas of this discipline thanks to the integration of the analysis of syntactic structures into the discursive perspective, showing that lexico-grammatical choices not only have a local relevance, but contribute to the overall construction of discourse as a basic instrument in social practices.
