In the first part, a general overview of the "Colección de comedias escogidas" (1652-1681) is offered, focusing on matters such as the editorial market of the late 17th century in Spain, the strategies of collection and distribution of dramatic texts in that period, and the role played by minor dramatists in the evolution of the dramatic system. In the second part of the study, a complete and analytical description of the 36th volume of the series is proposed, with brief commentary notes on the volume itself and the 12 plays published in it. This section could potentially reflect the final aspect a complete catalogue of the collection could eventually have.

Abstract

In the first part, a general overview of the "Colección de comedias escogidas" (1652-1681) is offered, focusing on matters such as the editorial market of the late 17th century in Spain, the strategies of collection and distribution of dramatic texts in that period, and the role played by minor dramatists in the evolution of the dramatic system. In the second part of the study, a complete and analytical description of the 36th volume of the series is proposed, with brief commentary notes on the volume itself and the 12 plays published in it. This section could potentially reflect the final aspect a complete catalogue of the collection could eventually have.
