Short Rotation Coppice (SRC) must reach an high level of field mechanization in order to improve the work efficiency and the quality of final product (chipped wood). The paper analyzes the work productivity of a Medium Rotaion Forestry-poplar transplanter tested in a slope Appennino area. By means of field tests, the time necessary for the various operations has been measured and, through the time analysis, the operative, economical and energetic performances of transplanter have been evaluated. Results underline the excellent adaptability of the assessed machine and its good work capacity also in hard working conditions (0,6 ha/h).

Abstract

A field test of a Medium Rotation Forestry-poplar transplanter. To obtain an economical sustainability.
