A priceless album containing the first aerial photographs of ancient Egyptian monuments, signed Kofler, Cairo 1914, belongs to the Egyptological Archives and Library of the University of Milan. Fascinating research in Europe and Africa has led to the rediscovery of the identity and the career of this photographer, very famous in Egypt in the first half of the 20th century, but afterward completely forgotten.

Un album straordinario contenente le prime fotografie aeree dei monumenti egiziani, firmate Kofler, Cairo 1914, è conservato presso la Biblioteca e Archivi di Egittologia dell’Università degli Studi di Milano. Un’appassionante ricerca in Europa e in Africa ha portato alla riscoperta dell’identità e dell’attività di questo fotografo, molto famoso in Egitto nella prima metà del XX secolo, poi completamente dimenticato.
