The aim of the paper is to analyze the destroyed female monastery of Santa Radegonda in Milan since its foundation during the 8th century until the 13th. The complex occupied a privileged position near the double.Cathedral of the city and thanks to historical sources and to a big number of capitals coming from the destroyed cloister it has been possible to determine the role of this complex in the artistic and liturgical development of the city during the Middle Ages.
