In the work of Eusebius of Caesarea, Homeric reminiscences display a powerful intertextual force. Epic quotations, far from being dispensable, often serve an original purpose, depending on the literary context (apologetic, heresiologic, polemic etc) of the work where the citation occurs. In the process, Eusebius shows a deep knowledge of the Homeric hypotext and is also aware of the exegetical history of the chosen quotations.

Abstract
In the work of Eusebius of Caesarea, Homeric reminiscences display a powerful intertextual force. Epic quotations, far from being dispensable, often serve an original purpose, depending on the literary context (apologetic, heresiologic, polemic etc) of the work where the citation occurs. In the process, Eusebius shows a deep knowledge of the Homeric hypotext and is also aware of the exegetical history of the chosen quotations.File in questo prodotto:
