Aim of this study was to evaluate postoperative analgesic effects of the preoperative trigeminal and facial nerves blokade with bupivacaine (BPV) ropivacaine (RPV) or in comparision with systemic morphine (MOR) in TECA-LBO. All dogs were randomly allocated into 3 groups: preoperative BPV block, preoperative RPV block, preoperative systemic MOR. For 24h after surgery, pain scores were assigned using a numerical rating scale. Preoperative BPV and RPV block was associated with significantly lower pain scores compared with MOR systemic use which required rescue analgesics. The preoperative trigeminal and facial nerves block with BPV or RPV seems to be effective for pain than systemic MOR in dogs undergoing TECA-LBO surgery.
