Il trattamento chirurgico del cancro polmonare nell'anziano

Lung cancer is the most frequent and spread desease throughout the world and it is even more frequent as the age grows. The rise in the average age underlined the lung cancer matter in elderly people. Surgical exeresis remains the gold standard in the lung cancer treatment but until a few years ago it has been denied to over 70 year patients. Thanks to the improvements in the aenestethic techniques, to the evolution in the studies of the cardiorespiratorial physiopathology, to the optmization in the fisiokinesitherapy, to the refining in the check of the post operatorial pain and also thanks to the minimal invasive surgery, it is even more frequent that elderly patients get a surgical operation. Experience revealed that the elderly patient remains at a high risk, therefore – beyond a particularly careful selection – it’s better preferred a low traumatising operation (lobectomia, wedge resection) and executed through videothorascopic.
