The Authors present their experience in hepatic needle biopsies performed utilizing a posterior approach through the coronary ligament. this extraperitoneal approach avoids choleperitoneum and hemoperitoneum which may occur with the usual antero-lateral approach. the technique described is therefore safe and may be used even in patients with serious obstructive jaundice or with major coagulation deficiencies
