IL RUOLO DEL DESIGN NELL'INNOVAZIONE INDUSTRIALE DEL NOVECENTO: PERCORSI NAZIONALI E CASI AZIENDALI

My PhD thesis is a historical economic reading of industrial design, analysed through three different levels. The first level is its creative process with a focus on the peculiar national experiences, such as UK, Germany, France, USA and Italy. The second level is the study of some Italian firms which are specialized in furniture design and have increased their business thanks to their innovation and creativity. The third level is about the case study of Giovanni Sacchi, craftsman and pattern maker, who worked with some famous Italian designers, from the Fifties until the Nineties. The sources analysed for my research, have been the letters and the bookkeeping available at the Giovanni Sacchi Archive and some interviews to a few of his collaborators.
