Over the years root coverage procedures have always been a hot topic in dentistry; that's why there are many studies in the literature. Many articles has been reviewed to write this Dossier in order to get a sort of guideline for the treatment of gingival recession, without letting apart epidemiological data and etiological issues. Different surgical techniques have been evaluated including the most recent one based on the use of dermal matrix derived graft. Finally the prognostic value of different techniques have been analyzed and compared. The review of this data showed that bilaminar technique and Coronally Positioned Flap offer the best results when compared to other procedures. Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) is the technique of choice when a gain of clinical attachment is needed.
