The ever-growing complexity of design projects needs the collaboration of multidisciplinary design teams. Communication gaps arise between stakeholders who belong to different design communities. Moreover, the co-evolution of design communities and their systems requires an open environment to support emerging needs. The Hive-Mind Space (HMS) model has been proposed to support cultures of participation and to tackle the co-evolution of users and systems. MikiWiki is an HMS prototype, implemented to explore the use of boundary objects and habitable environments to facilitate communication and tackle co-evolution of users and system.

Abstract

The ever-growing complexity of design projects needs the collaboration of multidisciplinary design teams. Communication gaps arise between stakeholders who belong to different design communities. Moreover, the co-evolution of design communities and their systems requires an open environment to support emerging needs. The Hive-Mind Space (HMS) model has been proposed to support cultures of participation and to tackle the co-evolution of users and systems. MikiWiki is an HMS prototype, implemented to explore the use of boundary objects and habitable environments to facilitate communication and tackle co-evolution of users and system.
