We report the first observation (103±17 events) of the decay Lambda(c)+ → Sigma−pi+pi+ and the charge conjugate. A measurement of the relative branching ratio Gamma(Lambda(c)+->Sigma- pi+ pi+)/Gamma(Lambda(c)+->Sigma+ pi+ pi+ pi-) = 0.53+-0.15(stat)+-0.07(sys) is also presented.

Abstract
