The novel anions [Re3H3(μ-X)(CO)10]- (X=Cl, Br, I), prepared by reaction of the unsaturated anion [Re3H4(CO)10]- with the corresponding hydrogen halides HX, have been characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy and by an X-ray diffraction study of the chloro derivative. The anion [Re3H3-(μ-Cl)(CO)10]- contains an isosceles triangle of metal atoms, with two longer hydrogen-bridged Re-Re edges (mean 3.206 Å) and one shorter edge of 2.995(2) Å, doubly bridged by a hydride ligand and a chlorine atom (mean Re-Cl 2.497 Å). © 1982.
