A male 10 years old German Shepherd has been diagnosed with Zolliger-Ellison syndrome. This syndrome is characterized by gastric acid hypersecretion, gastrointestinal ulceration and pancreatic no-beta cells neoplasia. Clinical signs are usually not specific and referable to many other gastrointestinal diseases; sveral weeks or months could take before a definitive diadnisis is achieved. Due to the complexity of clinical pattern and to the difficult interpretation of giagnostic fimdimgs, teh definite diagnosis is often made post mortem. Since bibliographic data are also poor on this disease, authors intend to contribute to the comprehension of the syndrome describing the clinical diagnostic and anatomopathologic aspects observed in one dog at University of Milan. A prompt diagnosis of this syndrome allows surgical treatment and teh cahnce for curing the affected animal.
