Plants are provided with enzymatic systems which have the ability to synthesize compounds with prostaglandin-like structures. These systems consist of a fatty acid lipoxygenase and hydroperoxide cyclase. Plant lipoxygenases, in contrast with the animal enzymes, utilize C 18-fatty acids as substrates. The question of a fatty acid cyclo-oxygenase occurrence in plants remains to be answered.

Abstract
Plants are provided with enzymatic systems which have the ability to synthesize compounds with prostaglandin-like structures. These systems consist of a fatty acid lipoxygenase and hydroperoxide cyclase. Plant lipoxygenases, in contrast with the animal enzymes, utilize C 18-fatty acids as substrates. The question of a fatty acid cyclo-oxygenase occurrence in plants remains to be answered.File in questo prodotto:
