With regard to the preparation of Melatonin containing tablets envisaged in the oncological alternative therapy named MDB, an experimental work was carried out in order to verify the solid state interaction between Melatonin and Adenosine, and to point out its possible influence on the Melatonin dissolution behaviour. This work deals with i) the solid state characterization (FTIR, DSC, RX) of raw materials, Melatonin and Adenosine, and of their physical mixtures before and after compaction, and ii) the in vitro dissolution behaviour of some formulations. The results obtained do not support the hypothesis of the formation of new solid phases and the dissolution profiles do not show any significant increase of the Melatonin dissolution rate that can be ascribed to compaction.
