An injection-molded swellable/erodible hydroxy-propylcellulose (HPC)-based capsular device for oral pulsatile delivery was prepared, evaluated in terms of in vitro performance and subjected to a preliminary in vivo investigation. The system prepared was proven able to delay the onset of release for periods of time that turned out correlated with the shell thickness. Administered to healthy volunteers, it yielded drug concentration profiles characterized by lag time values that were in linear relationship with the in vitro ones.

Abstract
