An active monitoring was carried out in a sheep and goats flock to assess infection and shedding of Coxiella burnetii. Serological screening was performed by indirect immunofl uorescence assay in october 2009. Serum, vaginal swabs and fecal samples were collected in ewes, 1-30 days after lambing, in May 2010 and tested by Real-Time PCR. On the whole. 10/76 sheep and 6/15 goats resulted seropositive, with evidence of infection in one year old animals of both species. Shedding animals were not identified.
