The emergence of concepts and applications categorized under the Web 2.0 paradigm, along with the rise of social networks and virtual communities, provide an opportunity to enhance the interactive and collaborative dimension of learning. More than before, it is today possible to create virtual “places” where people share their ideas and experience and learn together, developing new skills and competencies. This paper describes a web-based platform which integrates tools such as blogs, wikis, and folksonomies to create a community of learners and facilitate their personal and professional development. The main features and components of the platform are here illustrated, along with the description of purposefully defined learning processes. The submission to learners of a specific assignment/project to realize, based on management issues and real company cases, is reported as an illustrative example of how the platform leverages the community dimension of web learning and the competencies development process.

Abstract
The emergence of concepts and applications categorized under the Web 2.0 paradigm, along with the rise of social networks and virtual communities, provide an opportunity to enhance the interactive and collaborative dimension of learning. More than before, it is today possible to create virtual “places” where people share their ideas and experience and learn together, developing new skills and competencies. This paper describes a web-based platform which integrates tools such as blogs, wikis, and folksonomies to create a community of learners and facilitate their personal and professional development. The main features and components of the platform are here illustrated, along with the description of purposefully defined learning processes. The submission to learners of a specific assignment/project to realize, based on management issues and real company cases, is reported as an illustrative example of how the platform leverages the community dimension of web learning and the competencies development process.Pubblicazioni consigliate
